Matt and Neil with Precision Boxing coaches putting Poughkeepsie boxing on the map!

This past weekend, Precision students Neil Tomkins and Matt Amone made their boxing debut. Being new to combat sports, the two boxers made sure to leave no stone unturned in their preparation for their first bouts. First fights can always bring nerves, but both of these guys followed their gameplan and went in with a winning mentality.

Precision boxer Miguel was integral in helping Matt and Neil prepare for their fights!

Neil, a heavyweight who grew up playing football made quick work of his opponent. The fight starts and his opponent comes out demonstrating elusive head movement reminiscent of the great Mike Tyson. After weathering the initial storm, Neil kept his defenses tight; keeping his opponent away with hard straight punches. After two standing 8 counts and knocking his mouth piece out, the referee called the fight in the 2nd round, announcing Neil as the victor. already scheduled another fight for May 16th. Neil was back in the gym the Monday after the fight getting right back to work and has already scheduled another fight for May 16th.

Crazy Jon Russo, the mastermind behind Precision Boxing

Matt fought a tough opponent who made it a war. Eventually Matt’s laser speed straight punches became too much. He was battering his opponent and won a clear decision over the course of the three round fight. Matt is a true force at 147lbs, seemingly gaining strength as the fight endured.

Matt and Neil are examples of guys who truly put in the work. These two are examples of success for all of the upcoming Precision boxers.
