Precision Boxing & MMA has been Poughkeepsie’s home for quality kickboxing fighters for over 20 years. This past weekend one of our up and coming fighters stepped into the ring for his first bout. After several last minute opponent changes Poughkeepsie’s own Tray Bilyou had his chance to put his skills on display. Tray is a long time Hudson Valley resident who was a stand out wrestler for FDR High school in Hyde Park, NY. Tray has been honing his kickboxing skills at Precision to compliment his already stellar grappling. In preparation for this bout Tray even spent time in Thailand, the birthplace of Muay Thai, considered the world’s most effective form of kick boxing.

Tray’s opponent was very skilled. Fighting out of the famed Campanella gym in Middlebury, CT he was ready for a battle. In the first round Tray quickly jumped ahead on the strength of his forward pressure and front kicks, but in the second round his opponent answered with solid body shots and counter strikes. The third round would be the deciding factor and Tray left no doubt that he was the better conditioned athlete by pouring on the pressure before the final bell earning a successful debut appearance.

The Precision crowd roared with excitement following the bout and Tray was thrilled that he was able to put his new found skills on display. What’s next for Mr. Bilyou? Hopefully a debut bout in mixed martial arts where he hopes to replicate the success of other Precision stand out fighters such as Bellator Veteran Lindsey VanZandt or the UFC’s Jim Miller.
