For our advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students, we offer our MMA class. In this class, we practice common grappling positions for striking our opponents on the ground. This class focuses on making sure that our students are prepared to control the distance when someone is trying to strike them in a grappling exchange. We work from defensive and offensive positions, understanding how to nullify strikes when our opponent gets on top, and how to trap our opponents’ limbs, making them helpless to your strikes. Head coach Brian McLaughlin brings tried and true techniques from the UFC’s octagon right to our mats in Poughkeepsie.
