Our most senior black belt Dave “Silver Fox” Karchmer was recently promoted to third degree black belt; an achievement that very few martial artists will accomplish in their lives.
Not only is “Silver Fox” a phenomenal coach and a friendly face on the mats but he’s also one of the worlds most respected and experienced grappling referees. Having reffed over 4000 matches at all skill levels and pretty much every rule set you can think of, Karchmer has established himself as a wealth of knowledge in the grappling community.
In my first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament, my head coach had gotten sick and was unable to attend and with less than 24 hours notice Coach Dave drove two-hours to New Jersey to coach a very nervous white-belt through both the gi and no-gi brackets. Although I got thrashed in the gi, Dave guided me to earning a silver medal in the no-gi bracket. I’ll always be thankful to Dave for sacrificing his time to help me earn some valuable experience.
