This past weekend Precision Boxing and MMA had a student dominate their USA Boxing debut. Rashane Elliot stepped into the ring for the first time and won via unanimous decision; exhibiting beautiful angles and footwork without getting hit clean once! Rashane has been working hard for a few years, making Precision Boxing and MMA his second home. Although this was his first official bout, he has been preparing for quite some time. Due to opponents pulling out he was never able to make the walk until now.
The dominant Dutchess County boxing student will be stepping into the ring again on July 22nd for a USA Boxing show in Lake George. However, boxing is not the final destination for this blossoming fighter. Having displayed admirable and exciting performances in both submission grappling and boxing competitions, Rashane is following his dream of becoming a professional mixed martial arts champion. The undefeated boxer says he wants to stay as busy as possible and his work ethic in the gym reflects that mentality. Rashane is someone who’s always training, frequently sparring and helping his training partners become the best versions of themselves. After his next bout in the squared circle, he hopes to make his amateur mixed martial arts debut.
Growing up in Jamaica, Rashane was a record setting sprinter before he discovered his passion for boxing and mixed martial arts. Although he still has a lot to learn, Rashane has some very unique talents that are displayed daily in the gym. Not only is he an extraordinary athlete with the dedication of a professional, but he also can seemingly process techniques immediately after seeing them. The man is a sponge of martial arts knowledge; he sees something once he can execute it nearly perfectly on the first try.
Although he’s demonstrated superb athleticism from day one, meeting Hudson Valley boxing coach “Crazy” Jon Russo was the connection he needed to marry his athleticism with technical skill. A lifelong martial artist and boxer, Russo immediately saw the potential in Rashane and the two hit it off right away. With his minds eye focused on mixed martial arts gold, Rashane also spends time working with Poughkeepsie MMA and The Ultimate Fighter veteran, coach Brian McLaughlin.
The Hudson Valley is home to more and more impressive athletes with Rashane Elliot at the top of the list. This young mans potential is unlimited; surely he’ll be making an exciting mixed martial arts debut soon.
